I love the ease of smoothie. Throw a bunch of healthy stuff in a blender with some ice or frozen fruit, and 9 times out of 10, you have something filling and tasty. It’s a practical way to get a bunch of nutrients that you’re just not going to eat first thing in the morning. Or 10am, which is usually when I start thinking about what to eat.
I like a lot of different things in my smoothies, but like ice cream, I tend to go back to the ones with chocolate. It’s like you get to cheat on your diet, but you’re not really, ya know?
The chocolatey flavor in this comes from cocoa powder, which is bitter and not sweet. The banana usually adds enough sweetness for me, but if you want more, add a bit of honey or maple syrup. This one also has the addition of cacao nibs, added right near the end, so you still have a bit or crunch. Kind of like a chocolate chip milkshake. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
