Gluten-Free Maple Doughnuts with Cream Cheese Frosting

real maple syrup

cup plain yogurt

maple extract

Frosting:
2
ounces
softened cream cheese

tablespoons
softened butter

powdered sugar

heavy cream

maple extract

chopped toasted walnuts
for finishing
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a standard size cooking pan with cooking spray.
Combine the flour, xanthan gum, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk the maple syrup, butter, eggs, yogurt, maple and vanilla extracts.
Add the wet to the dry and mix until just combined.
Using either a piping bag or just a spoon, fill the doughnut pan until full.
Bake for 11-12 minutes, until golden brown. Remove, let cool and remove from pan. Repeat with remaining batter.
To make the frosting, whisk all of the ingredients together until thickened and smooth.
When all of the doughnuts are completely cool, ice the doughnuts and sprinkle with walnuts.
Enjoy with a strong cup of coffee.
